Photo: Paul Sumner To all those who reject, repudiate, or disdain the Jewish people and the Messiah of Israel, the New Testament unambiguously affirms that God has not rejected the people and He will fulfill His messianic purposes on earth. God will absolutely purge his people with a fiery Wind (Isaiah 4:4) and wash them in a Fountain (Zechariah 13:1). Then they will be snow white (Isaiah 1:18), so no one can accuse them of their sins. In that Day they will no longer stand condemned by demonic beings or rejected by their human hosts. On that great Day of radical change, Israel's new status will be concurrent with the change involving their Messiah. For one day, the world leaders who stood together and held war "counsels" against "the LORD and against his Mashiach" will be silenced (Psalm 2:2). The prime ministers, premiers, and presidents of every nation will "shut their mouths on account of" God's Mashiach (Isaiah 52:15). Even in Jerusalem, where Mashiach was once "the Depised One ... the One abhorred by the nation" (Isaiah 49:7), there will be a change. The Man they rejected, repudiated, disdained, and ultimately "pierced" to death will lead them to tears of repentance, and "the Land will mourn...as for an only son" (Zechariah 12). But she will mourn only for a season. For though "weeping may lodge for the night...joy comes in the Morning" (Psalm 30:5), when "the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star" will finally re-appear (Revelation 22:16), and will become to Am Yisrael "the Sun of righteousness" who rises "with healing in his wings" (Malachi 4:2). According to the Scriptures of Israel, what is Now will not always be.
