(1) PROPHETS

Genesis 20:6-7a, 17
God said to him [Abimelech] in a dream, “...restore the man’s wife, for he is a prophet [navi], and he will pray [hitpallel] for you, and you will live.” (17) And Abraham prayed [hitpallel] to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maids.

Exodus 19:17a
Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet [liqrat] God.

Exodus 32:11
Then Moses entreated [yechal] the LORD his God, “O LORD, why does your anger burn against your people whom you have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?”

Numbers 21:7
So the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and you; intercede [hitpallel] with the LORD, that he may remove the serpents from us.” And Moses interceded [hitpallel] on behalf of the people.

Deuteronomy 9:20, 26
“And the LORD was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him; so I prayed [hitpallel] for Aaron at the same time.” (26) “And I prayed [hitpallel] to the LORD...”

1 Samuel 7:5, 8
Then Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mispah, and I will pray [hitpallel] to the LORD for your. (8) Then the sons of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not cease to pray [ze'oq] to the LORD our God for us, that he may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”

1 Samuel 12:19
Then all the people said to Samuel, “Pray [hitpallel] for your servants to the LORD your God, so that we may not die . . .”

2 Samuel 24:17

Let the priests, the LORD’s ministers,

“Where is their God?”

Malachi 1:9
But now will you not entreat [halah] God’s favor, that he may be gracious to us?
With such an offering on your part, will he receive any of you kindly?

(4) MESSIAH SERVANT

Isaiah 53:12
Therefore, I will allot him a portion with the great,
And he will divine the booty with the strong;
Because he poured out himself to death,
And was numbered with the rebels;
Yet he himself bore the sin of many,

1 Samuel 2:25a
If one sins against another, elohim [the angels?] will mediate [pallel] for him; but if someone sins against the LORD, who can intercede [hitpallel] for him?

Job 5:1
Call now, is there anyone who will answer you?
And to which of the holy ones will you turn?

Job 9:33

Job 16:19

(6) EARLY JUDAISM

Tobit 12:12, 15
(12) “When you and your daughter-in-law prayed before the Holy One;
and when you buried the dead, I was likwise present with you.
(15) I am Rafael, one of the seven holy angels who present the prayers of the saints and enter into the presence of the glory of the Holy One.”

1 Enoch 9:3
And now, O holy ones of heaven, the souls of people are putting their case before you pleading, “Bring our judgment before the Most High.”

Matthew 10:32
Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.

Luke 12:8
. . . everyone who confesses me before men, the Son of Man shall confess him also before the angels of God.

Revelation 3:5
. . . I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

(8) YESHUA’S SPIRIT

Romans 8:26-27
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because he intercedes for the holy ones according to the will of God.

Isaiah 59:16
And he saw that there was no man,
And was astonished that there was no one to intercede [paga];
Then his own arm brought salvation to him;
And his righteousness upheld him.
