What Happened in Gan Eden? A long-time good friend of ours died, unexpectantly, "too soon." Her husband of 48 years cared for her at home, to the end. Her story was a reminder that our lives—here—are always in the hands of the Creator. And because of the deaths of our parents that occurred in Eden (Genesis 3), the end of our own lives is a When, not an If. This truth points to a constellation of realistic and affirming Biblical passages.
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his godly ones."
(Psalm 116:15)"It is appointed for men and women to die once, after this comes the Judgment."
(Hebrews 9:27)"The Father…has given all judgment to the Son."
(John 5:22)"[God] has fixed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom he has appointed."
(Acts 17:31)"[Yeshua of Nazareth]…is the one who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead."
(Acts 10:38, 42)"I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Messiah Yeshua, who is to judge the living and the dead."
(2 Timothy 4:1)"The time has been shortened…the form of this world is passing away."
(1 Corinthians 7:29, 31)
