When, Not If
(What Happened in Gan Eden)
A good friend of ours died recently, unexpectantly, "too soon." Her husband of 48 years cared for her at home, to the end.
This was a reminder that our lives — here — are in the hands of the Creator. And because of what happened in Gan Eden (Genesis 3), the end of our lives is a When, not an If.
This truth points to a constellation of sober but affirming Biblical passages.
"It is appointed for men and women to die once, after this comes the Judgment."
"The Father…has given all judgment to the Son."
"[God] has fixed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom he has appointed."
"[Yeshua of Nazareth]…is the one who has been appointed
by God as Judge of the living and the dead."
(Acts 10:38, 42)
"I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Messiah Yeshua, who is to judge the living and the dead."
(2 Timothy 4:1)
"The time has been shortened…the form of this world is passing away."
(1 Corinthians 7:29, 31)
"Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve."
